The latest Nerf dart gun is the Nerf Raider CS-35. The gun is inspired by the Nerf-n-Strike video game which
features many weapons, one of which resembles the Raider CS-35.
Nerf has produced a few rapid fire guns in the past but this is the first that uses human power to drive the
multi-shot system. The gun uses a pump action to generate air pressure. The air pressure is released to power a
dart. Reports suggest that a dart can travel as far as 30 feet in distance. However the consistency in range seems
to vary from one dart to the next.
In a single shot mode, the dart is fired when the operator pulls the trigger. In multi shot (or slam fire) mode,
the operator holds the trigger down and a dart is fired each time he/she pumps the stock. So the speed or rate of
fire is determined by how quickly the person can pump the stock.
The Nerf Raider uses a drum magazine that is located above and to the left of the breech. It holds 35 darts
which allows the firer plenty of ammunition to take on opponents. The drum is made of transparent plastic so you
can see how many darts are left. This is pretty useful when you are in a tight spot. You can make a tactical
retreat and reload the magazine. Reloading can take time but you will get better at this task with practice. The
magazine can be used with other compatible N-Strike blasters.
In terms of dimensions the Nerf Raider CS-35 is 4.2 x 23.9 x 12.6 inches. It is not
bulky and works well in active blasting sessions. It weighs in at 3.6 pounds so you should not struggle with the
weight. People have described how it has a great fire rate in slam shot mode and very rarely jams (unlike some
other Nerf guns).
As already stated, the 35-dart capacity of the CS-35 takes your Nerf wars to another level. You will have a
vastly superior weapon to most of the other Nerf guns that you friends may be using. If you get the CS 35 starter
kit an extra 65 darts are thrown in. So you have 100 darts to play with. This should ensure you never go wanting
for ammunition, even if a few darts get lost in the odd skirmish from time to time.
Nerf Raider Background
For people new to Nerf guns, all guns fire what is described as a Nerf dart. Nerf is a soft foam material that
was originally used to make sporting goods like balls and hand thrown darts. With the advent of the Nerf dart gun,
a whole new world of competitive fun was invented. People would have paint ball like events using the Nerf guns. Or
people would just have a bit of fun in the back yard with their friends. The darts are gentle and soft, so younger
kids will be able to get in on the action too.
The Nerf Raider CS-35 is recommended for children aged 6 - 12 years.
